Maya Macdonald is a playwright and native of New York City.

Her plays include brunch, Three Anne Franks, Raw Pasta, i like your open space, Press Me Hard Into What I Want, Abageal is Asleep in a Pile of Cupcakes Again, Totally Tax Deductible, The Really Important People, and Leave the Balcony Open.

Her plays have been seen and heard at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, The Bushwick Starr, New Dramatists, Ensemble Studio Theatre, MCC Theater Young Playwrights, Three Legged Dog, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Flea, Rising Phoenix Rep, JACK, Dixon Place, DePaul University, among others.

She is the recipient of the Irv Zarkowr Award for Excellence in Playwriting. Recently, her play Brunch was a semi-finalist for the O’Neil Playwrights Conference, Bay Area Playwrights Festival & received an Honorable Mention for the 2016 Relentless Award.

She received her BA from Bennington College and an MFA from Hunter College under the guidance of Annie Baker, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins & Brigade Mullins.
